Peer
Mentoring

To support a positive start for our new Year 8 students, each form class is paired with two dedicated Post-16 peer mentors. These mentors meet with students every morning during registration, providing guidance, reassurance, and a friendly face as they settle into life at Lismore College.

Our peer mentors are carefully selected for their empathy, leadership, and commitment to helping younger students thrive. They play a vital role in ensuring a smooth transition from primary school to Lismore College by offering practical support and emotional encouragement.

What our peer mentors do:

-
Serve as positive role models, demonstrating respect, responsibility, and kindness.
-
Help students build friendships and develop caring relationships within their class.
-
Assist with navigating the school environment, including classrooms, facilities, and routines.
-
Support the development of confidence and self-esteem through encouragement and praise.
-
Actively listen to any concerns and provide reassurance or guidance.
-
Promote participation in clubs, sports, and extracurricular activities to enrich school life.
-
Offer tips for organising books, homework, and equipment to stay prepared.
-
Share strategies for time management and study habits as students adjust to new expectations.
-
Encourage a sense of belonging and inclusion, ensuring every student feels valued.
-
Help students understand school rules and digital platforms used for learning and communication.
